I neglected to get back to Blogher to see if a post I made a few weeks ago got any traffic, and I was pleased to find quite a dialog underway. Thanks to all the midlife bloggers who responded. There is indeed a healthy community (or at least a healthy start at a community) of women of a certain age who want to share ideas and experiences. We have a lot to talk about!

I, msmeta, am a middle-aged, middle-class, middle-brow writer, reader, wife and mother languishing in a dusty corner of the Great American West. I have spent several years lurking online, but I'm ready to join the conversation. I just hope I have something to say. I'm particularly interested in issues facing women at midlife. Look for posts on books, American culture, middle age, thrift shops, shoes, family, politics, religion and maybe even the occasional rant if I'm irritated enough.

Thanks for starting the conversation at Blogher. I just kind of fell into it yesterday when I went to introduce myself. But it was the most invigorating dialog I’ve been in as a blogger. I’m dying for more and you’re right–we have a lot to talk about!

I found the convo on Blogher tonight, too. Glad to read the opening you began. I have to admit I have a very long list of mommyblogs to sort through when I do get a chance to read the blogs. There is a reason they are on my list. I have made many friends along the way… And there are some great writers out there – great ideas.
But I would like to find others with things to say that are more relevant to what’s happening in my life. And that certainly isn’t parenting young children these days. So thank you for starting some good dialog.
